The 12 Midwest states by years to 100,000 miles

How many years the average registered vehicle in each Census Midwest state takes to reach 100,000 miles, from FHWA tables VM-2 and MV-1.

Published October 16, 2026. Data pulled 2026-10-16.

Years to 100,000 miles is 100,000 divided by the state's average miles per registered vehicle, to one decimal. Fewer years means vehicles in that state cover ground faster on average. Factory powertrain and basic terms are written in years and miles, whichever comes first, so a fast-driving state reaches the mileage limit sooner. Confirm against your VIN; the clock starts at first sale; terms vary by model year, trim and market.
